Psychogenealogy's family-memory chapter moves through remembering, forgetting and reconstruction. Its genosociogram and social-atom account also includes significant people, places and relationships outside the family. Many connections on a map do not make all of them equally well evidenced.
The workshop proposes the labels documented, reported and unknown. 'A relative said so' calls for recording both the account and its source. Leaving an unknown date blank records missing information; it does not prove a hidden event. These labels are our editorial tool, not a standardised scale from the book.
This family-mapping exercise does not ask for real names, health information or private events to be entered into the site. It uses fictional cards. Guessing details of an unremembered event or pressuring someone to disclose is not part of the objective. The aim is to keep provenance and uncertainty visible.
Apply it: fictional worksheet
Fictional cards: 'A civil record provides a date', 'A character says it happened this way', 'No record is available for that period'. Place them in documented, reported and unknown. Do not fill the gap by guessing.
Example reasoning and its limit
Document date: documented. Character's statement: reported. Missing record: unknown. These labels establish neither a cause nor a diagnosis.
