Interoception

İçsel beden duyumu

Source and editorial check: 2026-09-19

In everyday language

Interoception concerns signals coming from inside the body and how those signals are sensed and interpreted. It helps us ask how bodily changes become part of experience.

A closer look

The broad NCCIH account includes sensing, interpretation, integration and regulation of internal signals. It therefore extends beyond consciously noticing a sensation: communication between the nervous system and other bodily systems is central to the research construct.

Editorial interpretation

The Turkish label is an explanatory rendering, not a claim of perfect equivalence. İçsel beden duyumu is narrower than the broad research definition when it is read as conscious sensation alone.

Research framework

A research priority describes questions worth investigating. It does not by itself show that a treatment is effective or that attending to body signals improves health.
